Father Solemn
Race: Tiefling
Role: Priest / Cleric of the Faith
Appearance: A solemn tiefling priest, robed in muted tones. His horns are polished smooth and he carries an air of quiet authority, though weariness shows in his eyes.
Backstory
Little is yet known of Father Solemn’s origins. He serves as a priest in the city and has enough standing to be trusted with difficult rituals. His role in the Lucky Leap suggests that he is either aligned with or sympathetic to Lord Signmonder and his circle, willing to aid them in times of crisis.
Personality & Traits
- Deeply faithful, but shaken when the gods do not answer.
- Dutiful and compassionate, though visibly ashamed when he fails.
- Calm in demeanor, with a low, chanting voice.
Role in the Story
Father Solemn stepped forward with two other clerics in an attempt to bring Xaniver back. Despite a sincere ritual with holy symbols and candlelight, the gods did not answer. This failure embarrassed him and reinforced the theme of divine silence.
Notable Moments
- Session 7: Led the ritual to restore Xaniver, chanting over the body as others prayed and lit candles. The ritual ended in failure, his holy symbol glowing faintly before going dim.
- His words to the party: “The gods are not answering… not tonight.”
Relationships
- Xaniver (PC, deceased): Attempted but failed to return him.
- Lord Signmonder: Likely aligned, answering the summons to aid at the Lucky Leap.
- The Party: Met during the vigil over Xaniver’s body; left an impression of both reverence and divine absence.
